I enjoyed the event of the mystery, though Anthony needing to go on it all a clandestine was so contrived. I sympathize why it was necessary for the plot simply I did have to roll my optics.
I didn't like how involved Helena became in the story, as I think it took abroad from Sarah being strong on her own. I think Clee does an excellent job of writing regency period novels for the modern reader, information technology is a difficult line betwixt existence accurate and being relevant and relatable. I enjoyed the consequence of the mystery, though Anthony needing to keep it all a secret was so contrived. I empathise why it was necessary for the plot just I did have to gyre my optics.
I didn't like how involved Helena became in the story, as I think it took away from Sarah being strong on her own. I remember Clee does an splendid chore of writing regency menstruum novels for the modern reader, it is a hard line betwixt being accurate and being relevant and relatable. I didn't encounter whatsoever glaring issues with the grammar as some reviewers did. There was the rare editorial mistake, missing words or IS instead of IT, but that is in every kindle book I've read. Not enough to distract me from peachy writing and a good story.
I have read everything published by Adele Clee and one of my favorite things virtually her is her consistency. I think of her eighteen works I've only given two 3-star ratings. The rest are 4s or 5s. And then, if y'all liked this book I would recommend more of her books. "A Uncomplicated Case of Seduction" is my personal favorite. WARNING: there is sexual practice in this book, it is not erotica, only enough to exist a steamy & hot developed romance. Please do not read if you are looking for something PG.

Anthony Dempsey is a man at the stop of his rope. Trying to proceed a undercover from his brother, trying to prevent the Harwood name from beingness associated with another scandal, and dealing with a blackmailer, all the while keeping Sarah Roxbury, the woman who makes his middle sing, at arm'due south length in order to protect her, is taxing. But his brother is stubborn, his sister in constabulary is determined and filled with pregnancy hormones, and Sarah Roxbury is too beautiful, also tempting, and likewise damn irresistible to proceed away. Is it whatever wonder Anthony cannot keep his cloak-and-dagger whatever longer?
Well, I jinxed it. If this were the showtime book in the series, I wouldn't read any further. Disappointing, to say the least.
With an insipid hero (I never would've thought he could be fifty-fifty remotely related to Lucas Dempsey) and his idiotic reasoning for not revealing the "secret" at to the lowest degree to his blood brother sooner, a vapid heroine (then far abroad from her sister's lively character), who kept spouting headache-inducing flowery prose whenever they were in close proximity to each other, a suspense (if i could telephone call it that) plot equally weak as a newborn, and a resolution to the "suspense" plot even weaker, I must say Ms Clee dropped the ball with his one.
If it wasn't for Mr Thorpe and Mrs Chambers, who even in their commencement brief interaction on the page had more chemistry and more spark than the two leads (I can't wait to read their story, A Elementary Case of Seduction ), this story would've been a disaster. Granted, I never actually took to liking Anthony Dempsey very much (even in his brother'due south book I found him bland, ordinary, and unexciting), but I never would've imagined his story would exist so utterly boring and tiresome.

The plot was unexpected and the characters were truly interesting. The author is definitely in the top tier of romance authors. Certainly worth the coin.
This is the sequel
Finally freed from the scandal caused by his blood brother, Lord Anthony Dempsey thinks his family unit may finally be able to motion on. When he meets Sarah Roxbury, he thinks he's finally found the perfect woman for him. But tragedy strikes, and Anthony tin can't act on his feelings without causing a scandal. Sarah is attracted to Anthony, only his disruptive manners mystify her. When Anthony reveals the trouble to his brother, sister in constabulary, and Sarah, they band together to solve the mystery. This is the sequel to To Save a Sinner, only you don't demand to read it outset, this volume tin can be read every bit a standalone. I actually liked the get-go i, and recommend reading it likewise. This author writes such not bad mysteries! I loved the twists and turns in the plot, it kept me guessing. Her romances too feature strong heroines, and Anthony and Sarah are both characters you'll cheer for. Sarah is then loyal and sweetness, and Anthony can't hide his emotions from her. I really liked them together.
The narration is well done, with perfect voices for both characters. The narrator has a really like shooting fish in a barrel voice to listen to and pulled me right into the story. I requested a copy of the audiobook, and I'm voluntarily leaving a review.

I ordinarily really enjoy Adele Clee, only feel this ane didn't really hit the marker. Clee'due south heroines are always bold and push the boundaries of a regency adult female, but
The Dempsey family are no strangers to scandal, and now it's Anthony's turn. He is hiding a hole-and-corner that, if it got out, could ruin him and his family. Sarah Roxbury is drawn to the mysterious Viscount, and wants to discover what is belongings him back from loving her as she desires. Can they help each other? And what will happen on the way?I normally really enjoy Adele Clee, merely feel this one didn't really striking the marker. Clee'due south heroines are always bold and push the boundaries of a regency woman, merely in this case Sarah is as well much. I didn't notice her believable, and felt similar I was reading a modernistic romance novel with people in costume. Also, I don't know near anyone else, simply I felt like a large chunk of the story was missing? When nosotros met the characters, they were already aquainted and in love. I felt like I was missing vital context, and and so was not as invested in their story. It all just felt a bit apartment.
Plus my usual one star for a regency, but I would reccommend yous read others of Adele Clee's books rather than this one.

Information technology kept me on my toes, guessing and trying to figure out what was going to happen next and and then when I couldn't guess correctly, it had me turning pages to discover out what would happen side by side in this exciting book.
I loved the characters, all of whom you lot quickly get to know. I loved their strengths and weaknesses which made them quite human and I lov A delightful mix of love, seduction and passion, a murder-mystery, secrets and even blackmail - this is what this story is nearly. And what a story information technology is!

Another well written story by Adele Clee whom I respect and adore for her writing talent.
Liisa Ivary is the narrator and she does a fine chore of helping to bring this story to life.
If you lot are looking for enjoyable amusement then you should exercise yourself a favor and either read or 'mind' to this story. I am very happy to recommend information technology!
I listened to an advance copy of the audiobook version and this is my voluntary and unbiased review of it. ...more
Anthony Dempsey has secrets and is blackmailed. This makes him try to protect the one he loves. He is therefor keepting Sarah Roxbury away from him and so she cannot be harmed considering of him. A story that has its flaws sometimes simply apart from them the author A well written historical romance that is a mix of mystery, drama, blackmail, scandal, love, secrets, tragedy and passion. Information technology has a nice storyline and plot. Merely the mystery is very predictable. I like the characters and they are well described.

There was a reasonable plot in the background, but for me, the human relationship had no spark.

This was a good story. I think the world has in-broiled me in its toxic thoughts and made me want vengeance. The culprits really deserved some punishment for their deportment. I kinda feel similar they tried to cut out his middle and in plough he merely gave it to them tied up in a pretty package with him doing all the piece of work. Even so, I did enjoy the romance and intrigue.
Anthony is trying to hibernate a secret to protect his honor. Sarah doesn't care about accolade, she just wants Anthony. As e'er, a beautiful romance with a piffling intrigue and deception.

I really liked this book. I call up the plot was a bit complicated but the lead characters were very proficient particularly Mrs Chambers and Mr Thorpe
Nicely crafted story with a fleck of mystery. It is helpful to have read To Save a Sinner and What Every Lord Wants, simply not a must. Later on reading To Salvage a Sinner I so wanted Anthony's story to be told. Adele Clee again has wrought an unexpected twist into the storyline.

I dearest Anthony and Sarah both together and as individuals. Anthony is dependable and steadfast, Sarah intelligent, compassionate and tenacious in her devotion. Intellectually they make a great squad; intimately they're combustible.
Fuelled by an ingrained demand to protect, deepset principles and a driven desire to do what'due south right, Anthony badly tries to deny his all consuming honey for Sarah in an attempt not to depict her into a dark, disturbing clandestine. This leaves Sarah stuck between hope and despair as she attempts to read his cross signals and dissimulation, all the fourth dimension clinging to the undeniable chemistry and spark that glimmers and flares everytime they are together.
Add to the mix a host of friends and siblings that still have the power to enrapture: especially the delightfully witty Dempseys - the charmer Lucas and the highly insightful Helena - a cameo from Max and Prudence, the return of the mysterious Mr Thorpe and introducing the audacious Mrs Chambers. All enrich the plotline, add condolement and an abundance of entertaining and touching moments as they spark off each other and add depth and insight into the leads.
Ultimately an engaging tale fuelled past suspense, tantalising characters that sparkle and smooth and have the power to awe and a plotline that cleverly interweaves and highlights the importance of family and that deep unshakeable bond of loyalty they radiate. Simply put just plain FUN and heartwarming to read! Why non give information technology a take chances? I did and loved it!
